In 2010, Laurel Blond became a distinguished member of the President’s Council, sponsored by The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America.Laurel Blond knows insurance inside and out. She joined her father’s firm, the Maurice Blond Agency, in 1985 as an insurance agent. After gaining some expertise, she began discussing the company’s products at seminars throughout the five boroughs of New York City and beyond. Blond eventually assumed the position of company President, managing life, health, disability, and long-term care policies. She also provides investment services through Park Avenue Securities LLC., The agency serves several notable New York clients, including the owner of NY Yacht and Boat Charter, Gretchen Scott Designs, which operates a store out of Southampton, and Decorative Things, an internet based company.
Before joining the Maurice Blond Agency, Laurel Blond attended Tufts University, where she earned a B.S. in Occupational Therapy. She put her education to use as the Head of the Department of Occupational Therapy at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Blond also possesses a Master’s degree from Harvard University, which she earned in 1984. She maintains ties to the school through participation in its alumni association. She also serves her community by acting as a liaison between people and doctors, connecting those in need of medical care to qualified professionals through referral agencies.
Blond and her husband, Rabbi Leib Tropper, live in Monsey, New York, where Tropper opened the Kol Yaakov Torah Center. He spent years studying at various yeshivas under several rabbis, receiving four semichas and teaching for five years in Jerusalem. Leib Tropper and his wife participate in philanthropic initiatives like the Association for Jewish Outreach Programs. In her free time, Blond enjoys dancing twice a week in a women’s group, cooking, and looking for antiques in upstate New York.
